I am an experienced and caring counsellor and coach working with individuals and couples. I have a particular interest and training in relationship issues at home and in the workplace. I provide a confidential, safe, non-judgmental and trusting space for you to explore and express your thoughts and feelings.
I am trained in a variety of approaches and will draw on these to tailor the work to your needs, reviewing on a regular basis to ensure that it is beneficial for you and at a pace to suit you. I work with adults on both a short and long term basis.
Sleep difficulties and insomnia often accompany other issues, so I have advanced level training in this area and can provide assessment and treatment strategies for people with such problems.
I am currently studying for an MSc in Psychosexual Therapy.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and conform to its Ethical Framework.
Hello and welcome to my profile.
Counselling can provide us with an opportunity to explore our thoughts and emotions in order to gain a greater understanding of who we are and what we have experienced. This can be a really positive step forward in developing our own solutions to difficulties and in re-building our lives.
Talking to someone in a warm, friendly and safe environment can be an extremely powerful and healing experience and can help you to feel less isolated and more able to make sense of your life circumstances.
I am an experienced accredited counsellor with over ten years’ experience and I have worked for both the NHS, Charity sector and with Employee Assistance Programmes.
My governing body is the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, with whom I am both Accredited and Registered. My Registered number is 041386.
I am a person-centred counsellor with over 10 years’ experience of working one to one with individuals of varied ages, backgrounds and difficulties. I offer a safe and respectful environment to enable you to explore your issues in a non-judgemental, confidential space.
As well as running my own private practice, I also work for Burton and District Mind.
My experience includes working for West Leicestershire Mind for 5 years. Prior to that I worked for a small charity in Nuneaton that offered support with mental health and wellbeing to local people. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their code of practice and ethical standards.
I offer a safe and warm space in which you can explore your difficulties free from judgement. Everything you disclose is treated with compassion, respect, understanding and confidentiality.
As a commitment to both my profession and my clients’ well-being I engage with regular Continued Professional Development to further my practice. I am currently undertaking a Masters Degree in Trauma Studies.
I am governed by the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) 'Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions' and have regular supervision to monitor my practice. All of this is done to best aid you to overcome your difficulties and move toward a life free from them. I understand that seeking help can be frightening; yet in doing so you will start to overcome your fears. There is nothing wrong in seeking help.
The approach that I use is Person-Centred. In approaching clients in this manner, I endeavour to understand each person and their difficulties to tailor an individual approach to helping them.
I am a qualified and accredited CBT therapist and also a fully qualified EMDR therapist with a background of mental health nursing. I have over 10 years’ experience of working with people with mental health difficulties in a variety of settings, however my passion has always been working with those struggling with depression and anxiety, including OCD, social anxiety, health anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, phobias and PTSD/trauma. I have a special interest in compassion-focussed therapy and this strongly influences the therapy I deliver.
My qualifications include: HE dip Mental health nursing, PG Dip CBT, EMDR training Parts 1, 2 and 3. I am accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and working towards accreditation with EMDR Association UK & Ireland.
My approach to counselling owes much to my own life experiences. My training and qualifications are important, though not as important as my commitment as a concerned fellow human being. I have a real understanding of just how difficult life can be and how sometimes we may need help. Above all, I appreciate how important it is to be heard and not judged. Counselling enables us to express our thoughts and feelings in order to make positive changes. Change may seem difficult and frightening to you right now, it need not be. With help you can make those changes.
I have a great deal of experience in counselling for anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, bereavement and trauma. I also specialise in the counselling of young people, having worked extensively in secondary schools and colleges. Prior to this I was engaged in the treatment of substance and alcohol misuse.
Humanistic counselling is totally non-judgmental and based upon the principles of offering clients the opportunity to explore their problems safely and confidentially. I am bound by the ethical and moral codes of the National Counselling Society.
Counselling need not be a long-term process. Solution Focused Brief Therapy is also available to you; it is entirely your choice.
